Current Community Payback schemes
18th November 2009
Cumbria Probation is currently working on a number of projects with offenders. They include:
We are currently working in partnership with Northern Rail and have renovated two cumbrian stations (Dalton and Sellafield). The work has been able to clearly demonstrate the benefits of Community Payback and how it benefits the local communities. The work has led to two stations being renovated which would otherwise have remained as run down and not user friendly. Our partners have praised the quality of delivery and offenders have gained a real feeling of ownership. Please see the CCCRP document below for more details.
We also currently work with Barrow Borough Council in renovating street furniture. Again this work would not be done without Community Payback labour. The benefits to the Barrow communities are many and offenders are seen to repay the community.
We have numerous other projects currently ongoing and these have nearly all resulted from community requests. Our work is delivered to a very high standard and in strict adherence to health and safety standards. Our reputation is is very high and because of this demand often outstrips supply.
