This is an exciting opportunity to pursue a career in the Probation Service, working in a challenging but supportive environment. Cumbria Probation Trust is working towards effective ofender management trhough the assessment of need and the delivery of proven interventions to reduce re-offending and the risk of harm to the public.
Probation Service Officers carry out a range of tasks including the delivery of interventions to address offending behaviour and reduce the likelihood of re-offending; case/placement management in Community Payback; services to the Courts, case management of low and medium risk offenders and work with victims. We currently have vacancies for PSOs to work throughout Cumbria.
You will need to demonstrate good communication skills, an ability to work with offenders with challenging behaviour and multiple problems, a high level of initiative and personal commitment. A flexible approach to working hours is essential as some evening work will be required.

Application text: The successful candidates will be required to apply for a disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau, the cost of which will be met by the Probation Trust. In addition, if not in possession of a relevant degree (Community Justice Studies, Criminal Justice Studies, Criminology, Police Studies), they will be required to undertake the VQ Level 3 Diploma in Probation Practice during the period of employment, details included in the application pack.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an assessment centre and if successful will then be invited for interview.
