Job overview:
� Do you have a talent for motivating and engaging others whilst promoting socially responsible attitudes ?
� Are you able to work effectively with groups of up to a maximum of 8 (male and female) offenders?
� Do you have an NVQ, or work experience in decorating, construction, landscaping or joinery that you are able to pass on to others and produce high standards?

This is an exciting opportunity to pursue a career in the Probation Service, working in a challenging but supportive environment. Cumbria Probation Trust is engaged in effective offender management through the assessment of need and the delivery of proven interventions to reduce re-offending and the risk of harm to the public.

This post may be suited to you if you have experience of supervising groups on practical work tasks and are interested in contributing to a safer community by working effectively with offenders to reduce crime. The successful candidate and will supervise offenders on highly visible projects nominated by the community

The work is varied and challenging and offers a real sense of job satisfaction. Applicants should have excellent communication skills , be able to work on their own initiative, and in partnership with other statutory and voluntary agencies.

Unpaid Work/Community Punishment operates seven days per week; therefore a flexible approach to hours of work is essential as weekend work is a requirement of this post (paid at an enhanced rate).

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have one year�s minimum driving experience. A current C1 category driving licence is also essential to transport offenders in our project vehicles.

The successful candidates will be required to apply for a disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau, the cost of which will be met by the Cumbria Probation Trust.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an assessment centre. Successful candidates will then be invited for interview.
