The Cumbria Probation BoardThe Cumbria Probation Board is made up of representatives of the Magistrates, Local Government and the wider Cumbria community. Its members are appointed for a three-year renewable term by the Home Secretary and bring to Probation a wide range of professional and business skills and experience. Meetings of the full Board take place bi-monthly at the Probation Headquarters, Wetheral, Carlisle, and are open to the public. Board members:
In terms of Governance of the Cumbria Probation Area, it is the remit of the Board to ensure financial probity, best value and the highest possible levels of performance against nationally and locally determined targets. The Board is also responsible for strategic planning, development and innovation, as well as being the employer of all Cumbria Probation staff with the exception of the Chief Officer. It is the expectation that the Board will represent the interests of Probation across the wider Cumbria community. To that end, the Board Secretary is always pleased to hear from groups and organisations looking for speakers and interested in learning about the work of the Probation Service.
