Equality and DiversityThe Cumbria Probation Trust affirms its commitment to the principles of human dignity and equality of opportunity for all. Discrimination and prejudice of any sort impoverishes everyone. The diversity of individuals is valued and recognised as enhancing the work of the National Offender Management Service in Cumbria. The Cumbria Probation Trust will work towards the eradication of oppressive behaviour by the implementation of fair policies and practices in the work place. We believe that no one should be discriminated against for any reason, including gender, race, ethnic or national origin, disability, sexual orientation, religious belief or age. We work closely with the Multi Agency County Race and Diversity Partnership as well as with other Probation Areas in the region to increase awareness and promote diversity. Through our Equality & Diversity Reference Group, we regularly review our diversity policy. We also seek to encourage applications for employment from disabled people. We are proud to possess the ‘Positive about Disabled People’ employer benchmark as a sign of our commitment to this. Cumbria has now published it's Single Equality Scheme which replaces previous individual schemes on Diversity, Disability and Gender and in addition covers Age, Sexual orientation and Religion and Belief. |
